Soil Formation and Mass Redistribution during the Holocene Using Meteoric 10Be, Soil Chemistry and Mineralogy

چکیده
Soil development and erosion are important opposing processes in the evolution of high-mountainous landscapes, though their dynamics not fully understood. We compared soil between a calcareous siliceous chronosequence central Swiss Alps at high altitudes, which both cover formation over Holocene. calculated element mass balances, long-term rates based on meteoric 10Be we determined formation. also analyzed shifts mineralogical composition, weathering indices, particle size distribution, carbon stocks oxalate extractable Fe, Al, Mn. The soils had chemical early stage that strongly decreased after few millennia. was characterized by carbonate losses shift to finer texture. hampered upbuilding horizons stages development, led delay vegetation development. This study shows how drivers change time. In parent material predominantly drives while later becomes more dominant as it influences surface stability, hydrological pathways, determine water drainage retention.

simulation and experimental studies for prediction mineral scale formation in oil field during mixing of injection and formation water
abstract: mineral scaling in oil and gas production equipment is one of the most important problem that occurs while water injection and it has been recognized to be a major operational problem. the incompatibility between injected and formation waters may result in inorganic scale precipitation in the equipment and reservoir and then reduction of oil production rate and water injection rate. ...
Soil and soil organic carbon redistribution on the landscape
Patterns of soil organic carbon (SOC) vary widely across the landscape leading to large uncertainties in the SOC budget especially for agricultural landscapes where water, tillage and wind erosion redistributes soil and SOC across the landscape. It is often assumed that soil erosion results in a loss of SOC from the agricultural ecosystem but recent studies indicate that soil erosion and its su...

A principal goal of the Lunar Soil Characterization Consortium (LSCC) is to evaluate tools that might be successfully used in remote compositional analysis of the lunar surface. Mathematical methods are extremely valuable to assess whether variations exist in a statistically significant manner, independent of their interpretation. The bounds of widely used correlation of visible to near-infrare...

Sludge of two different ages (3 years old; Type 1 sludge, and 3 months old; Type 2 sludge) were applied to the following soil types: two luvisols, an arenosol and a vertisol at different rates to determine whether sludge application had any effect on the partitioning and consequently, bioavailability andmobility of Cu, Pb and Zn. A fivestage sequential extraction procedurewas used to determine ...
متن کاملMilestones in Soil Chemistry
An array of pioneering research, dealing with various aspects of soil chemistry, has appeared in Soil Science for the past 90 years. In this review, two papers that have shaped the field forever are featured and discussed. The paper by Mattson (1931) and the many others that he published in Soil Science established the importance of variable or pHdependent surface charge on colloids and soils a...
